Personal Injury and Accident Claims UK

Compensation for Accidents in Public Places and Common Work Related Illness

Other Types of UK Personal Injury and Accident Compensation Claims

Accidents in Public Places

If you are injured in a public place, for example a trip or fall, you may be able to claim compensation if your accident was caused by a factor that you did not have control over. An example of this would be if you slipped over on a wet floor.

If this happens to you may be entitled to accident compensation from those responsible. This will be the owners of the building if it happens inside a public building such a shop or restaurant, or the council if it happens in the street.

Miners Compensation

One of the most common type of personal compensation claims that have arose over recent years is that of miners suing for compensation from their employers. Conditions for miners were not acceptable in many cases, and many of those miners have been affected by long term health problems due to these working conditions.

Because of the hard work of trade unions and other campaign groups these problems are now being recognised and large numbers of miners, and the families of miners, are receiving compensation for their injuries or illnesses.

If you are a miner, or someone in your family was, and you believe your health has suffered because of the conditions you worked under please contact your trade union as they should be able to help you with the process.

Asbestos

Asbestos is a material which is highly resistant to both heat and damp, which was used as a building material for many years.  However, it is also toxic and many of those who were exposed to it have become ill or injured because of inhaling its poisonous fibres.  Asbestos is known to be a cause of two major illnesses.

Asbestosis

Asbestosis is a disease of the lungs which results in scarring and serious health difficulties.  Asbestosis can have an very long gestation period before any symptoms occur and this is taken into account when individuals are making compensation claims, as they are unlikely to do this within 3 years.

Mesothemioma

Mesothmioma is a rare form of cancer which affects the lining of the lungs. It has been proven that the brown and blue types of asbestos causes this disease.

If you believe that exposure to asbestos has badly affected your health, and this exposure was caused by working conditions you may be able to make a claim for compensation.   If you wish to make this kind of a claim you must ensure that you have accurate work records.
